Biography
My name is Hung Huynh. I am Vietnamese-American, having been settled in the US since the 80s as a refugee. I am currently living in Dallas, Texas but also split my time in Garden Grove, California to assist my elderly mother.
I retired in 2023 after a long career in the Financial Technology (FINTECH) Industry, having worked in various responsibilities as programmer, implementation/support, development manager, sales support, project manager. My customers are large financial institutions such as Bank of America, Citibank, Chase, Wells Fargo etc. Starting 6 years ago until now, I have been involved in volunteer teaching of English to immigrants in my local community, both in-person and virtual remote. Since I retired, I have been also tutoring Math to disadvantaged students in middle and high schools. Organizations that I have been working with are : https://www.ralc.org/, https://schoolonwheels.org/, https://encorps.org/ , https://intellichoice.org/
I always have a passion for teaching. Thru volunteering, I would like to find a way to pay forward for all the help I have received from many people in my early days in the US. I would like to teach and mentor by sharing my experiences with younger generations, especially disadvantaged students who lack the opportunity and resources to break through their numerous challenges. Thru volunteering, I also hope to meet new friends, learn new cultures and make our world a more open and welcoming place for everyone.
My hobbies are traveling, reading, bicycling, watching sports, DIY (Do It Yourself) projects.
