I am now retired, playing drums and singing in a blues band and a rock band. My working life was in sales, marketing and management in various industries. For 13 years I owned and operated a boutique hotel in Tasmania, my career finishing as General Manager of a Businessmen’s Club. I have also worked internationally as a model and an actor. I managed an Australian Company in Singapore for 3 years early in my career, but the highlight of my life was living in Hanoi for 2 years from 2013 to 2015. There I developed a love and respect for the Vietnamese people, the country and the culture. I was a volunteer/mentor/lecturer at KOTO Hospitality School and played music and acted in movies. I have also made many lifelong Vietnamese friends. I have been married for 42 years and have 2 sons, 36 and 39 and 1 grandson 15 months old.

The reason I have joined A Better Vietnam is to offer my assistance to young Vietnamese people and hopefully assist them in some way to achieve their goals in life.

Focus of teaching

As I am not a qualified teacher, I would like to concentrate on conversational English at first, sharing my interests, experiences and expertise in certain areas. I would like students to also share their interests and experiences with me. If a student would like assistance with specific areas such as vocabulary and grammar or pronunciation of difficult English words, I am happy to do so also.
