Biography
My name is Barry Mattacott and I’m an British citizen. I currently live in Da Nang in central Vietnam. I moved here two years ago from London, the capital of the United Kingdom I came to South East Asia to retire early For the twenty years prior to coming to SEA I worked as a Marketing Director specialising in Cyber Security and channel sales. Prior to that I handled the sales and marketing for an entertainment company involved in ventures as diverse as paintball games, bungee jumping and hovercraft racing. My earliest roles were with British Airways as an aero engineer and then computer programmer I have greatly enjoyed my time in Vietnam. It is very different from my life in the UK and can at times be trying and a bit frustrating. But one thing has remained a constant for me, the warm and welcoming Vietnamese. I see a nation of people that take hardship in their stride and work hard for everything they success. No feelings of entitlement here. So I want to try and give something back. I have always been a team leader and mentor and I believe that I can share my skills with the English language to help others succeed.
I have a lifetime of experience in corporate communications, writing compelling copy and proposals. I can assist with general use of English as well as more specialist areas like marketing copy, preparing reports and CVs. English is my one and only language. I have tried and failed to learn other languages, German, Welsh and French. Lately I have failed spectacularly with Vietnamese. I’m so impressed by people that can master another language My hobbies are tavelling, motorcycles, fishing, movies, listening to music and generally having a good time.
