I am not a career teacher but I have been working with A Better Viet Nam since its beginning. During this time I have studied CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
During my study of Vietnamese I realised how important it is for students to have the chance to practice conversation with native speakers. I continue to work with A Better Viet Nam to offer more students the chance to build confidence and practice their conversation skills.
I am a 63 y.o. Australian and since I retired in 2019 I have been living in Da Nang. I have 40 years experience working in International Trade in Australia and have travelled extensively in Asia.
Since becoming a volunteer teacher with A Better Viet Nam i have had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful people, from the dedicated team running the project to the enthusiastic hard working students. I have made many Vietnamese friends across the country and learnt so much about Viet Nam and its culture. Now whenever I travel around the country I have friends and students to meet and this connection has opened the door to experiences I could not have had otherwise. I am sure I am the one achieving most benefit from my involvement with A Better Viet Nam.
