Part 1: Start a conversation with your partner. Talk about the following: 

 

- Do you enjoy festivals? Why?/Why not?

- What are some of the most popular festivals or celebrations in your country?

- Do you think festivals are important for a country? Why?

- Do you celebrate New Year’s Eve in your country?

- How do you celebrate it?

- What special food and activities are connected with this festival? 

- What do you most enjoy about it? 

- What role do the media play in festivals? 

- Do you think it’s good or bad to watch festivals on TV? Why? 

- Do you think that new festivals will be introduced in the future? What kind? 

 

Part 2: Visual-based conversation.

 

Both the student and volunteer show their pictures about Festivals. Then have a discussion to find at least five similarities and five differences among the pictures.

 

Part 3: Make a conversation about the following situation.

 

You and your friend both like festivals. Talk with him/her about a festival that is important in your country. Your conversation should include:

- When the festival occurs.

- Some of the things that are done at this festival or celebration.

- What you like or dislike about it.

- Why this festival is important.
