Hello! My name is Samuel Attwood and I’m from Bristol, England. It’s a large city in the south-west of England, next to Wales. I’ve been teaching English for about 5 years now. I started my teaching journey on an internship in Hanoi, after graduating from the University of Kent in 2016. I fell in love with teaching and the past five years have flown by! I continued teaching in Hanoi and Saigon until 2018, in public schools and a university. I left Vietnam for a brief period to teach in Taiwan, but I missed Vietnam too much! I returned to HCMC a year later and continued teaching during the pandemic. Currently, I’m back in the UK and looking for my next challenge whilst teaching online. I’ve always wanted to give back to local communities in Vietnam, and I hope that being part of ABVN will allow me to make a difference in the lives of the students and give them the confidence to succeed through improving their English skills. I’m looking forward to getting to know students and hearing about their future plans. Alongside travelling, I do a lot of street photography in my free time. I prefer taking photos old-school style, using film cameras. I’m also interested in cooking and exploring new cuisines. I've tried cooking a lot of Vietnamese dishes, but none of them were as delicious as the real thing! Hopefully, ABVN students can share some home recipes with me to try.
