A Better Vietnam proudly introduces Freerice, a project by the World Food Programme (WFP). Freerice is an educational trivia game that helps you get smarter while making a difference for people around the world. Every question you answer correctly raises 10 grains of rice for the World Food Programme (WFP) to support its work saving and changing lives around the world. The game has helped millions of people around the world “give back” completely for free - just by studying English daily. Freerice was created in 2008 by an engineer named John Breen, who wanted to come up with a creative way to encourage his son to study for his college entrance exams. He did exactly that, and two years later, he donated the platform to the World Food Programme (WFP). Since then, the game has grown into a global community with millions of players each year, answering thousands of questions daily to raise rice. Since 2010, Freerice has donated 214 billion grains of rice (equivalent to USD 1.5 million) to WFP’s relief programs in countries affected by conflict, climate disasters, and rising prices - such as Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Haiti, and Ukraine.
